Srinagar, Feb 12 (KNO): Senior National Conference (NC) leader and Advisor to the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani expressed strong disappointment on Wednesday over the exclusion of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from a high-level security review meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Police Control Room in Srinagar.
Wani, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), expressed dismay over the LG administration for not extending an invitation to Omar Abdullah, despite his extensive experience in governance and security matters.
Although security affairs fall under the direct jurisdiction of the Lieutenant Governor in the Union Territory, Wani said that the Chief Minister’s inclusion in such meetings would have been both principled and practical.
"This is not the first time the Chief Minister has been overlooked for such critical meetings. While we understand that security is not under the direct purview of the elected government in a Union Territory, Omar Sahib brings invaluable experience to the table. He served as the Chief Minister of a fully empowered state for six years and has a deep understanding of the region's security dynamics. His participation would have been beneficial for the LG administration itself,” he said—(KNO)
